A common misconception people have about estate planning is that they don’t have enough assets for a plan. The simple truth? Everyone needs to have an estate plan. One purpose of a plan is to direct distribution of your assets, but a good plan can do so much more. For starters, it can spell out who will care for your children and pets, who will make decisions when you can’t speak for yourself, and what kind of medical care you want, or don’t want, when the time comes.
